In ‘The Labyrinth of my dreams’ (sized 420x594 mm) I have used Acrylics to create a reamscape for my mind after noting down different elements within my dreams for a week. With bold outlines in white and black for the looming thoughts that occupy my conscious (represented by the bespectacled figure) and the subconscious (represented by the eyes which look directly at the viewers), I have highlighted six columns for dreams to intermingle, as I create pianos, tentacles, teddy bears, mugs, and flying pigs.
This artwork, I feel, is a process that delves further into the coming together of streams of consciousness, art for arts sake, and conceptual art. In this work, I think of two vastly opposing aspects of my personality and emphasize how there is a ‘fine line’ between the two through dreams that I’ve had wide awake and fast asleep – ultimately encountering an alternate reality for my existence and in that, a newer possibility for living.
