In ‘Colors of Childhood,’ I look at the institution of childhood with patterns of holes, lines, and colors that are reminiscent of cotton candies and fruits that are habitats to many memories, figurations of the self – both imagined and observed – and a fantastical tree trunk with openings of circular doorways and windows that reek of desires that one has as a child. Using Acrylics, the 420X594 mm artwork is processed by carefully listening to the subconscious mind that governs the movement of brush strokes.

I also draw inspiration from the surrealist composition of Thukral and Tagra to portray an air of nostalgia by employing a muted pastel color palette and dreamlike elements. The individual elements like my childhood toy, Jack, my elephant pacifier and stacked rainbow rings (symbolizing development), in conjecture with my vector style portraiture aim to symbolize the various elements of my childhood that contribute to who I am today.
